School bans Confederate flag symbol from vehicles

School bans Confederate flag symbol from vehicles

From: http://www.foxnews.com/us/2015/09/16/school-bans-confederate-flag-symbol-from-vehicles/

The topic of this article is Christiansburg high school is banning flags and symbols that could be deemed offensive by any race, religion, ethnic group, or gender.

The Christianburgs high school has banned flags and symbols that could be deemed offensive by any group to keep to the same track as for the dress code and rules for decorating lockers.  This started when a man in Virginia shot and killed 9 members of a historic black church.  Debbie Cox, a mother of one of the students, was shocked at this banning of the flag and admitted that she did not read the parking contract before signing.

This event sadly did not shock me as I knew that in the way we were heading this would come eventually.  Though I do not support this, as this goes against both my personal morals and our countries bill of rights.  The first amendment states that we have the freedom, I repeat Freedom, to practice our religion and to speak out.  Furthermore, it is also stated that our not limited to what I have listed before meaning that we have the right to “speak” out using symbols.   Also, how do we know that the symbol of the confederate flag was meant to offend as much as honor there ancestry of confederates.

This impacts the world because if we give an inch to these groups then we give them a mile in the end.  If you comply with a single thing they are trying to accomplish in the way of limiting power then we will much as such is shown in the article.  They gave in and banned offensive symbols and flags on cars, lockers, and clothes.  To make this even worse most parents are not aware of this proved by the statement made by Debbie Cox.  This proves that with giving up a small freedom can result in the loss of a big one, and don’t think oh this could only happen at a school because it is already happening throughout the world.

The power of the EL Nino

El Nino shifts into overdrive, but still unlikely to bust western drought or break records

1.  The topic of the article is that the El Nino that we are currently in is unusually strong though is not suspected to break the drought.

3.  The article was found on FoxNews.com.  The link to the article is here.

4.  The current El Nino is unusually strong and has caused the waters of the Pacific to become warmer than it is has in the last 17 years.  Though the storm is not stronger that the Nino of 1997-98 or that of the 1987-88.  The large sum of rain that is being relealed by this El Nino is not enough to free the west coast of its four year drought.

5.  Personally I believe impact of this event is excellent.  First, I believe that it must be told that these El Nino are a natural occurrence and not global warming caused by humans as some may believe.  Furthermore, El Nino are at sometimes a good thing, though sometimes they are bad.  El Nino cause’s warming of the oceans and causes great rain, rain that could begin the process of helping the west coast out of there 4 year drought.  Though studies show that the storm is unusually strong it is not strong enough to free them of drought.

6.  This storm impacts the world in many ways, though I believe it is mainly in a economic factor.  As the storm sweeps through the west coast which is in desperate need of rain. As it rains it will help the farming efforts along the coast.  In California, I have personally witnessed the need for rain as  we drove past them, and I have seen the orchards, fields, and vineyards between stretches of desert where only leafless bushes remain.  As these field obtain water there output will increase allowing them to export produce and wine to other areas.

Current Event: Trashed Study finds Students toss veggies

1. The healthier lunches that have been thrusted upon the children of America has caused a rise in wasted food and wasted money.

2. Trashed: Study finds students toss veggies mandated by federal school lunch program.

3.FoxNews.com

4.Studies have found that since the required healthy foods in school lunches has been put into place there has been an increase in wasted food and money. This is the result of kids not being forced to eat the fruits and veggies that are being provided for them, so this just cause and increase of money for a lunch that is supplying the same amount of food as the lunches did before.  Showing that this was a ineffective program used to please health critics.

5.My position on this is that what we eat is our business.  The decision should be up to the parent, not the government on what there children eat.  Through I believe healthy choices should be offered, it is like I said up to the parent.  The sad part about the program is that there is of food waste. Furthermore, there is money being spent out of schools low budget for things we don’t eat.

6.This impacts the world by three things: food waste, waste of money, and government control. There has been an increase of food waste from every school lunch from 1/4 cup to 1/3 cup per student which with all students under this program that is significantly.  Also, the amount of money being wasted by this takes away from the amount of money from other programs.  Furthermore, the governments control in this shows that once again the government is trying to dictate over everything we do.  That is why this problem effects the world.
